New (Offical) Guidelines for Posters
From the VSA
“Advertising in residence halls: Unfortunately, ResLife has been voicing some concerns about improper dorm advertizing. I wanted to articulate their policy in writing so that we can abide by their guidelines and not lose the privilege of this great resource. According to local fire safety protocols, which can be enforced by fine, all paper flyers in dorms should technically be behind glass cases. This is obviously not something that is feasible for the college to implement in the near future. Instead, the very nice fire-safety inspector is happy not to fine us as long as the fliers are confined to designated bulletin boards, bathroom doors and stall doors, and student room doors (with permission of the student). There should be some bulletin boards going up in the laundry rooms of senior housing areas in the next few weeks. Flyers absolutely cannot go on painted walls, and especially in stairwells as they pose a higher fire risk. The ROC attendants are happy to remove flyers when they do rounds, if they see that they are past- date or improperly placed. Please do your best to keep flyers and posters in the designated areas.”
